The expression “artsy fartsy” seems dismissive to me. What does that mean? Throughout my professional art career I have met with committees formed by government municipalities, businesses and not-for-profits. Generally the various members' attitude towards the arts runs from awe to skepticism. To solve this road block, I have been known to put a piece of clay and a tool in someone’s hand. “Go ahead, make your mark”, I tell them. Attitudes change immediately and on unveiling day, that “skeptic” is the first one to look for their mark.
